Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was promoted to Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has been a panelist and host of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of the panel during the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. The reporting she did included plenty of important stories like the Iran-Contra controversy, tax and budget reforms in addition to the issue of arms control. She traveled widely along with the president Reagan to meet along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
